Miss Maggie McGee

Miss Maggie McGee

She is a miniture long haired daschund and is 10 weeks old.  I have forgotten how much work a puppy is.  She requires so much attention that I haven’t had any time for knitting at all.  I’m still trying to finish up my Rocky Coast Cardigan and am getting no where!   It’s ok, puppies are so much fun.  Right now we are working on potty training and crate training.  She is getting good at the crate but is still working on potty training.  All things in good time.

Fall, Fall, Fall is here!!!

After having 100 degree temps earlier this week the weather finally broke and dropped like 20 degrees over night.  I’m soooo happy about the weather change but dealing the seasonal affective disorder I tend to get about this time of year is never fun.  That not quite direct sun light in the afternoon seems to make me feel sad and tired.  But I do love fall.  Pumpkins, beautifully colored leaves, pumpkin spice latte’s at starbucks and comfort foods…these are some of my favorite things.  And let’s not forget knitting!  Who am I kidding?!  Knitting is a year round sport of me.

I’ve been making good progress on my Rocky Coast Cardigan.  All the knitting is done and I’m weaving in my ends now.  If I can ever get a spare moment to finish, all I need done is blocking and it’s ready to wear.  While I seriously love this cardigan, I’m thinking about giving it to my mom for her birthday.  My mom takes care of 92 year old grandmother and my older sister who is disabled.  It would be nice to give her such a lovely sweater.  She often forgets to take care of herself and I live a few hours away, so I don’t get much chance to get home to help her out.  Thankfully she does have good friends that she can rely on for support but not much in the way of family.  Besides, I have enough of the same yarn to knit a second one for me.  I think I’ll get it blocked and see how it looks before I decide.

In Memorium…

I’m very sad to tell you that we lost Rex very suddenly almost two weeks ago.  You may have noticed that he had a shaved spot on his side in my last post.  He was having some trouble breathing just before we went on vacation in August, just a little cough.  We didn’t think it was serious but it turned out to be a very aggresive lung cancer.  Once we recieved the dignosis, it was less then two weeks before he passed away.  Devistated doesn’t begin to describe it.

12 years together was not enough and I’m not sure 100 years would have been enough either. My best friend, my protector, my confidant. He will missed.
